My name is Mariel Martinez and I'm a Registered Yoga Teacher. As a yogini with injuries, I focus on safety and alignment, offering modifications and encouraging the use of props so every student honors their unique practice of yoga. I have experience working with individuals of various abilities, fitness levels, and physical ailments and will customize classes based on your goals.

These are just a few examples of modalities we can incorporate into our sessions: 

Introduction to Yoga / Basics of Yoga - great for new yoga practitioners or those looking to dissect core yoga postures and learn how to move into them safely. 

Chair and or Wall Yoga - gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or against the wall or standing using a chair and or wall for support. 

Restorative Yoga - learn to relax and release tension while aligning the body, breathe and mind. Props are used to assist in holding poses longer.

Yin Yoga -  A passive practice, Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia (body’s connective tissue) which affects nerve impulses, flexibility and range of motion, and a host of other physical ailments.

Vinyasa Yoga - the most popular type of yoga in the West which incorporates a dynamic flow from posture to posture. Classes can range in intensity from a gentle flow to a more rigorous, heat-building and strength building sequence.

I received my 300-hour Teacher Training Certificate at Samyama Yoga Center in Palo Alto, where I studied under the mentorship of John Berg. I became a Registered Yoga Teacher and a member of Yoga Alliance in 2018.

When I’m not practicing or teaching yoga, you can find me reading a great book, traveling, or cooking delicious vegan food. I'm a member of the Junior League Palo Alto Mid-Peninsula Chapter, and the Girls Scouts of Northern California as an Adult Volunteer. 


5 Hours of Private Yoga Instruction at your home* in Menlo Park or Palo Alto for only $350 - that’s a savings of over $150! Full payment due at or before first class. All forms of payment accepted but credit cards will be subject to additional fees. 1 on 1 or small groups (up to 3 people). *First class will be held at a public park, all subsequent classes can be at your home. Our first class is held at a park so that we can both get to know each other, and feel comfortable before meeting in your home. No expiration date on hours. The 5 hours must be completed across 5 sessions or less (each session must be at least 60 minutes but can be longer depending on your goals, I.E. a class can be 75, 90 or 120 minutes).
